Yesterday I had dinner with my team.
We got together in a house and had a lovely chat about everything related to life. Music, work, love, society, people, friends…It was amazing.
One of my favorite moments in that whole dinner was something a friend said.
He was talking about having lunch with his colleagues at the company cafeteria and how, one time, someone was sitting at his spot.
He’s a very educated person and someone who cares about being a great human being, with a modern mindset and a focus on positive impact through his action and projects.
Yet, when seeing someone in his place, the mental, “knee-jerk” reaction was:
That’s my spot!
Even though he had this positive view of his own “mindset”, being someone who focuses on personal development, in that situation, he couldn’t help it.
While telling the story, he was pointing out to his head and saying:
We’re all the same, we’re all humans.
No matter how many books you read, courses you take, or people you talk to. At the end of the day, you’re still human. And that means that, unless you do some very conscious, strict, meticulous work on your own mind, you’re still going to fall prey to the hardwired circuits in your brain.
I hope that this next year, we’re all able to connect with Métis in a different way. To be wise and slowly but steadily replace the current patterns present in our minds with some new, even better, ones.
